The fauna of the territory is very varied, where birds, fish, poultry, and above all a great variety of wild animals that embellish the intricate mountains within which are some endemic animals very characteristic of this territory such as:

  • Hawk Caguarero.
  • Baitiquirí goat.
  • Rabijunco.
  • Bird Fly.
  • Chipojo Dwarf.
  • Bayoya de Onaney.
  • Iguanita from the sand.

The vegetation of the San Antonio del Sur area is diverse, in the northern part there is an abundance of Pine, Coffee and timber trees such as Cedro and Majagua. There are quite humid tropical forests because it is an area of ​​abundant rainfall.

In the southern part of the municipality, as it is the area with the least rainfall, prickly pears, melocactus in various species, guayacán, and Uvas Caletas abound. Throughout this area there are large plantations of Palma Real.
